Toshiba Encore WT8-A32 8-Inch 32 GB Tablet review

this review explain the benefits  and pros and cons about this tablet

Display - Toshiba Encore WT8-A32 display is quite nice. Like some of the dell venue 8 pro reviews, this screen also looks better if you take off the auto-brightness adjust, however, I believe it still looks good even if you leave it on, which I do to save on battery. The screen does get fingerprints easily (noticed when it is off), however I don't notice it as much when it is on. If I had to say which display looks better between this and the dell, I would say this one slightly wins, although they both display well. Touch responds well, haven't had any issues with it not registering my touch.

Battery Life of Toshiba Encore WT8-A32 - About what I was guessing, if you are intensely using it with lots of video/gaming, probably guessing you will get about 5-6 hours, although I haven't tested it from beginning to end. I have been using it mixed with maybe 10-20% using video and the rest INTERNET surfing, and estimate that I get about 7-8 hours or so. If you probably used it all for surfing, I could see you possibly getting 9-10 hours. If you keep the brightness on high the entire time, your battery life will be worse.

Toshiba Encore WT8-A32 WI-Fi - Internet is fast and zippy, no issues here, when running a speedtest, the download/upload is about the same as my laptop, and the ping is about 50% slower than my laptop. Looking at the driver, if I looked it up correctly, I believe this is MIMO 2x2, which I did not think it was when I first bought it, but it is a nice surprise if I looked it up correctly (don't get mad if I am wrong, just searched the driver number on Broadcom website). Its not advertised, which I don't know why if that is true. Interestingly enough, the speed test program that came with it underestimates from a web based speed-test site.

Toshiba Encore WT8-A32 Sound - Its loud enough, but I would have liked it slightly more, but its only ok. What I didn't like as much is all the speakers are located at the bottom on portrait view, which was a little disappointing because I wanted to have speakers on top and bottom so that when viewing videos in landscape, speakers are on each side. You can tell that the sound is local to one side on landscape, but you get used to it after a couple of minutes. Quality of sound I would rate as decent, bass isn't that great, but I figure you will use headphones if you want good bass and sound for music.

Camera - I liked on the specs it was 8mb back and 2mb front. When skyping, the person on the other end did say that it looked better with the 2mb camera , but the camera isn't as wide angles as the kindle fire hd, so I have to hold the camera at arms length if they want more than just my face. The 8mb camera I was not impressed with when compared to my phones 8mb camera, however I will just use my phone camera anyways so not a big deal for me. What I did like is that the 8mb for video while skyping was nice, because I could tap the screen and show people my apartment using the 8mb camera, then just tap the screen again and back to the front camera.

Processor - Speedy, like the reviews for the dell venue 8 pro and other 8 inches using the baytrail series. There is an area on the back that can get warm, but the only time I notice it is if I am using the tablet while charging. When I am using battery power, it stays cool on the back, but I imagine if gaming it could get a little warm. However, with my using, it stays cool unless it is charging while using the device.

Micro-HDMI - Sound is good when hooking up to TV, but cannot duplicate screen (wont let me as of right now, hopefully gets fixed with updates). Thus, unless it is updated, you really need the mouse because you have to extend the screen or play the guessing game with having it on the tv only and guessing where to tap.

Overall a great device, would recommend.

Finally, the Toshiba Encore WT8-A32 responds better to touch than the dell in my opinion, I noticed this when scrolling through programs on the dell, sometimes had to do it twice. Hope this helps people looking to compare.
